Coming along to a class at The Wee Kitchen? Here you’ll find everything you need to know before your visit, from finding us to what to expect when you arrive.
The Wee Kitchen is based in Leith, one of Edinburgh’s best neighbourhoods for food, drink and a good wander before or after your class.
We’re easy to reach from Edinburgh city centre, with a tram stop around a seven-minute walk away and plenty of regular bus connections. If you’re driving, there is also parking available nearby.
Inside, you’ll find a fully equipped teaching kitchen with everything you need for your class – just turn up ready to cook. All equipment, ingredients and recipes are provided, and our classes are BYOB if you’d like to bring something to drink.
We recommend making a bit of a day of it. Leith has plenty of great cafés, pubs, restaurants and independent shops to explore while you’re here.
Buses 7, 16, 25 & 49 stop at the end of the road, a short 3 minute walk away from our doors.Â
There are plenty of other buses that stop at Leith Walk and it’s around a 10 minute walk.Â
The closest tram stop is Foot of the Walk and is a gentle 7 minute walk to the Cookery School.
There is plenty of on street parking on Jane St and the surrounding streets.Â
The building we’re housed in is accessible via a ramp at the main entrance. Our classes are held on the ground floor with no steps from the entrance.Â
There is an accessible toilet on the same floor as us.Â
Our cookery classes are held in an accessible kitchen, with a wheelchair-accessible worktop and good manoeuvrability for both powered and manual wheelchairs.
We can also make a number of adaptations to the way our classes are run to accommodate different access needs. If there is anything that would make your experience more comfortable or accessible, please get in touch before booking and we’ll be happy to discuss what we can accommodate.
We can accommodate a range of allergies and dietary requirements across our classes, although what we can adapt will depend on the individual menu.
We take care to minimise the risk of cross-contamination when preparing ingredients and running our classes. However, our classes take place in a shared kitchen where a wide range of allergens are handled, so we cannot guarantee a completely allergen-free environment or the absence of traces.
If you have an allergy or specific dietary requirement, please get in touch before booking so we can talk through the menu, our processes and whether the class is suitable for you.
